Chemical Guys Mr. Pink Review: The Only Soap Most People Need

4.6

Our Verdict

Mr. Pink is the default car soap for a reason: pH-balanced, slick, foams brilliantly in cannon or bucket, and costs pennies per wash. No gimmicks, no compromises — just the correct answer to 'which soap?'

Car soap is where most people either overspend on gimmicks or underspend on paint-stripping junk. Mr. Pink is the boring, correct middle: a pH-balanced shampoo whose entire job is lifting dirt with maximum lubrication and zero damage to whatever protection is on your paint.

Performance where it counts

Lubricity — how easily grit slides along the paint instead of dragging — is the spec that prevents wash-induced swirl marks, and Mr. Pink's slickness is genuinely class-leading at its price. In a foam cannon, one to two ounces produces thick, clinging suds; in a two-bucket wash, the suds column lasts through a full sedan. Hard-water households will notice foam fading faster — more product or softer water fixes it.

What it doesn't do

There's no wax, no SiO2, no gloss additives — and that's a feature. Pure soap rinses completely, leaving nothing to streak or interfere with your existing wax or coating. If you want protection added during the wash, that's what Ultimate Wash & Wax or HydroSuds are for.

Cost per wash

Diluted correctly — an ounce or two per five-gallon bucket — the 32oz bottle delivers twenty-plus washes, well under a dollar each. The most common mistake is overdosing, which wastes product and can leave residue in door jambs.

Who should buy it

Everyone who washes their own car and doesn't have a specific reason not to. It's the soap we recommend as the default in our car wash soap guide, pairs perfectly with any foam cannon, and is safe over every coating we've covered.

Pros

  • pH-balanced — safe over wax and coatings
  • Excellent foam in cannons and buckets
  • High lubricity fights wash swirls
  • Extremely economical when diluted right

Cons

  • No added protection ingredients
  • Candy scent is polarizing
  • Suds die faster in hard water
