Chemical Guys Total Interior Review: The Mist-and-Wipe All-Rounder

4.4

Our Verdict

A ready-to-use interior spray that Chemical Guys rates for leather, vinyl, plastic, cloth, carpet, glass, wood and touch screens. It removes dust and fingerprints, leaves UV protection and adds no gloss. It is too mild for stains and can haze on glass when overused, but as the one bottle for routine wipe-downs it is easy to recommend.

If an interior gets cleaned in the ten minutes before someone gets in the car, the product has to be simple. Chemical Guys Total Interior Cleaner & Protectant is designed around that. One spray covers leather, vinyl, plastic, carpet, cloth, glass and wood, and Chemical Guys says it is gentle enough for navigation and touch screens.

What you get

A 16 oz ready-to-use spray that cleans and leaves a layer of UV protection in the same pass. It lifts dust, fingerprints and light grime, and the finish is its most useful trait. Chemical Guys says it adds no gloss or shine and leaves no greasy residue, so a matte dash stays matte and a steering wheel doesn't turn slick. There is nothing to dilute and no second product to apply.

How it's used

Mist it onto the surface and wipe with a clean microfiber towel, then turn the towel to a dry side for a final pass. For screens, gauge clusters and anything electronic, Chemical Guys says to mist the towel instead of spraying directly. A short-pile towel such as the Eagle Edgeless 350 keeps lint off glossy trim. The same bottle will do door jambs, the center console and the inside of the glass in one lap of the car.

Where it falls short

Gentle enough for screens means too gentle for real dirt. Stained cloth, shiny worn leather and grimy pedals need a stronger cleaner first, and for those the same brand's Nonsense or a fabric shampoo is the better tool. On glass it can leave a light haze if the towel is damp or overloaded, so a dedicated glass cleaner is still worth owning for the windshield. The UV layer is thin and maintained by regular use. It isn't a long-lasting dressing in the way a dedicated protectant is.

Who it's for

Daily drivers that get a quick wipe every week or two, and anyone who wants a single safe bottle in the door pocket. It is a regular in our interior cleaner guide for that reason. Check price on Amazon
