Fanttik Slim V8 APEX Review: A Glovebox Vacuum With Real Limits

4.3

Our Verdict

A 1.1-pound cordless handheld rated at 19 kPa in its top mode, with up to 40 minutes in Eco, about 13 at full power, USB-C charging, a 120 ml cup, a washable filter with a spare and a blower function. It keeps a car tidy between details. Short full-power runtime and a tiny dust cup mean it supplements a real vacuum and doesn't replace one.

A shop vacuum cleans a car better than any handheld. It also lives in the garage, needs an outlet and never comes out for a few crumbs. The Fanttik Slim V8 APEX is built for the other ninety percent of messes. It is a 1.1-pound cordless stick, about a foot long, that can live in the car and deal with sand, crumbs and pet hair when they happen.

What you get

Fanttik rates the brushless motor at 19 kPa of suction in its maximum mode and 8 kPa in Eco. Runtime is up to 40 minutes in Eco and about 13 minutes at full power, and a full charge over USB-C takes about 2.5 hours. The dust cup holds 120 ml and empties with one touch. The filter is a washable HEPA-style unit, and a spare is included. The accessory set is generous, with a crevice nozzle, several brushes, a flexible hose, blower nozzles, a charging cable and a storage bag. Reversing the airflow turns it into an air duster for vents, seams and cup holders.

How it's used

Use the blower first to push debris out of vents, seat rails and stitching, then vacuum it up from the carpet. The brush attachments loosen grit from mats and fabric, and the crevice nozzle and hose reach between seats and the console. Save maximum mode for carpet and embedded sand, and use Eco on hard surfaces to stretch the battery. Empty the cup often and wash the filter when suction drops.

Where it falls short

Thirteen minutes at full power will not cover a full interior with dirty carpets, and that is the mode carpet needs. The 120 ml cup fills quickly with pet hair or beach sand. It is no replacement for a corded vacuum before a proper detail, or for a wet extractor like the Bissell Little Green on stains. The battery is built in, so runtime ends when the charge does.

Who it's for

Parents, pet owners and commuters who want to keep a car tidy between proper cleans. For blowing out heavy grime with compressed air, a Tornador is the professional route. Check price on Amazon
