Griot's Garage Ceramic 3-in-1 Wax Review: Three Ways to Apply One Bottle
Our Verdict
A spray blend of SiO2, polymers and carnauba that can be wiped on dry, rinsed off or used as a drying aid, on paint, wheels, trim and chrome. Griot's rates two coats for up to 12 months, which is a best case; the faster methods trade away durability. For easy ceramic-style beading from a big bottle, it's a strong pick.
Most ceramic sprays pick a lane: wipe-on or rinse-off. Griot's Garage Ceramic 3-in-1 Wax refuses to, and that flexibility is what makes it one of the easier recommendations in the category. Griot's describes the formula as a blend of hydrophobic polymers, SiO2 and carnauba, developed in-house, and says it is more durable than a conventional wax or sealant.
What the three means
The name refers to three application methods. On a clean, dry car you mist a panel, spread with a microfiber towel, flip to the dry side and buff; Griot's says this is the method to use for the most performance. On a clean, wet car you can spray it on and rinse it off as a rinse aid. Or you can spray it on the wet car and towel it dry as a drying aid. The 22-ounce bottle is larger than the 16-ounce norm, so it lasts through a lot of drying-aid washes.
Application
Griot's directions are simple: shake well, work on a cool, clean, contaminant-free surface, and do one small area at a time with a light mist. It's approved for paint, wheels, plastic and rubber trim and chrome, so there is no masking and no worrying about white residue on black plastic. For the longest life, Griot's recommends a second coat 12 to 24 hours after the first, and rates that two-coat routine for up to 12 months.
Where it falls short
That 12-month figure is the manufacturer's best case: two coats, on clean paint, applied the slow way. Used as a rinse or drying aid it is a booster, and you should expect to reapply far more often. It is also a spray sealant and not a coating, so it won't match the chemical resistance of a bottle product like CQuartz UK 3.0. And contaminant-free means claying first if the paint feels rough.
Who it's for
Weekend washers who want ceramic-style beading without learning to level a coating, and owners of coated cars who want a compatible topper. It also earns a place in our wax and sealant guide. Check price on Amazon.
