The best consumer compound for people who hate dust and wipe-off. It cuts almost as hard as Ultimate Compound, finishes cleaner, contains no fillers, and costs the same. On hard clear coats it can be a genuine one-step. The only reason it isn't better known is shelf space.
Griot's Garage Complete Compound is the product people discover after Ultimate Compound and quietly switch to. It does the same job — moderate swirls, oxidation, water spots, light scratches — with two differences that matter more the more cars you polish: it wipes off like a detail spray, and it contains nothing that hides defects.
The finish
The abrasives are engineered to finish, and on a medium-hard clear coat the result after a compounding pass is close to what other compounds only manage after a follow-up polish. Hard German and Korean paints in particular can be one-stepped with Complete Compound on a medium pad and go straight to protection. Soft paint still shows micro-marring under a flashlight and wants BOSS Perfecting Cream afterward, but the haze is finer than what Ultimate Compound leaves.
No silicone, no fillers. What you see when you wipe it off is the true state of the paint, which is the whole point of correction. It also means it is body-shop safe and ready for a ceramic coating with nothing more than a panel wipe.
In use
It works by hand for spot repairs, though Ultimate Compound has slightly more bite in that role. On a DA it stays workable for a long time, doesn't sling, and when it's done it comes off in a single pass of a plush towel with no dust in the air. If you've ever finished a compounding session covered in white powder you will understand why that matters.
Where it stops
Cut. It is a hair behind Ultimate Compound on heavy oxidation and a long way behind M105 on anything deep. For a car in average condition it is plenty; for a neglected one, pair it with a heavier cutter.
