Most bad tire shine results aren't the tire shine's fault. Dressing goes blotchy because it's being applied over layers of old silicone, and sidewalls turn brown because antiozonant compounds bloom to the surface and never get scrubbed off. The contour is not marketing
A tire sidewall is convex; a flat brush touches it along one line and wastes most of its bristles. This head is curved to match, so the whole face makes contact and one pass covers the sidewall instead of three. Combined with genuinely stiff bristles — stiffer than anything else in our brush lineup — it strips accumulated dressing in a way that soft brushes cannot.
In use
Spray a dedicated rubber cleaner such as Adam's Tire & Rubber Cleaner onto a wet tire, scrub the sidewall in overlapping passes, and watch the foam turn brown — that's the bloom and old dressing coming off. Rinse and repeat until the suds stay white, which on a neglected tire can take three rounds. From then on it's one pass per wash. Dressing applied to properly stripped rubber goes on evenly and lasts noticeably longer, which is the whole payoff.
The rubberized bumper along the head is the detail that makes it usable: it means an accidental slip against the wheel face bounces off rubber, not plastic. Keep it that way — this brush is far too aggressive for wheels, and it should never come near paint.
The one habit that kills it
Stored bristle-down on a shelf, the head splays permanently within a few months. Hang it, or stand it on the handle. Owners who do report years of service; owners who don't buy another one.
