P&S Bead Maker Review: Why Every Detailer Has a Bottle

4.7

Our Verdict

The spray sealant professionals actually use. Sprays on wet or dry, wipes off with one towel, and leaves every exterior surface slicker than anything else in this category with beading to match. Real UV protection for a month or two. Over-apply on black paint and it hazes; otherwise it's the best five minutes you can spend on a car.

Bead Maker is the product professional detailers reach for at the end of every maintenance wash, and the reason is time. Spray it on a wet car and dry as usual; spray it on a dry car and wipe. Either way, sixty seconds per panel leaves paint, glass, plastic and metal slick, glossy and beading like a fresh coating. P&S built it for people who do six cars a day, and it shows.

What it does

It's a polymer sealant with UV filters and stabilizers — genuine protection, not just gloss — that bonds to any exterior surface. The slickness is the standout: dirt releases at the next wash more easily than after any wax here, and the surface feels like a coating. Beading is tight and tall for six weeks and good for two months. Gloss is bright and clean; on dark colors it's clear rather than warm, and a carnauba topper adds depth if you want it.

The one mistake

Too much product on black paint. Bead Maker is concentrated, and a heavy application on a dark panel dries to a faint haze that needs a second towel or a light detail-spray wipe. One or two sprays per panel, spread thin, and it's flawless. Some owners dilute it for maintenance use, which P&S allows but doesn't require, and which is the source of most of the confusion around it.

How it fits

As a stand-alone it competes with Turtle Wax Seal N Shine: slicker and slightly longer-lived, a third more expensive. As a topper over a coating like Gyeon Wet Coat or a sealant like Wolfgang it's the maintenance product that keeps the base layer performing. That's how pros use it.

Who should buy it

Anyone who washes a car more than once a month and wants it protected without a separate step, anyone with a coating that needs a topper, and anyone who's tried Seal N Shine and wants the professional version. It's the spray sealant in our car wax and sealant guide for good reason.

Pros

  • Sprays on wet or dry paint; one-towel wipe-off
  • Outstanding slickness and water beading
  • Safe on every exterior surface
  • Ideal coating topper and drying aid

Cons

  • One to two months of durability
  • Haze on dark paint if over-applied
  • Dilution options confuse first-time buyers
